Bottom Fishing:

Following are some important aspects of bottom fishing:

  • Technique:

Bottom fishing is a method where the baited hook is dropped to the bottom of the water, usually with the help of weights to keep the bait near the seabed.

  • Target Species:

Bottom fishing is often used to catch species that dwell near the ocean floor, such as cod, snapper, grouper, and various types of flatfish.

  • Tackle:

Bottom fishing tackle includes a strong and sturdy rod, a reel with a high line capacity, a thick fishing line to handle the weight of the sinkers, and heavy-duty hooks to handle larger fish.

  • Bait:

Natural baits like cut fish, squid, or shrimp are commonly used in bottom fishing. The goal is to attract bottom-dwelling species to bite.

  • Sinker/Rig:

Sinkers, also known as weights, are attached to the fishing line to carry the baited hook to the bottom. Various types of rigs are used in bottom fishing.

  • Boat Fishing:

Bottom fishing is often done from boats, as it allows anglers to access deeper waters where bottom-dwelling species are abundant.

Both angling and bottom fishing offer unique experiences and are practiced in different environments with various gear and techniques. Angling is a versatile method used in diverse fishing scenarios, while bottom fishing is more specialized and often associated with deep-sea or offshore fishing.
